In the course of 49 years the Museum HOUSE OF HUMOUR AND SATIRE has assembled a sizable core collection comprising 34 226 humorous and satirical works of art from the world over. They are grouped in the following sub-collections: CARTOONS (22 924), SELF-CARICATURES (813), SATIRICAL GRAPHICS & DRAWINGS (4 158), EX LIBRIS (244), PAINTINGS (1 583), SCULPTURE (972), GRAPHIC POSTERS (686), PHOTOGRAPHS (2 526) and ETHNOGRAPHY items (320). The exchange collection numbers 268 works. It should be noted that a considerable part of these art values (71 202) has been donated by 18 047 artists and cultural institutes in the world. A much smaller part of the collection has been acquired through purchases. Therefore, it is reasonable to claim that the Humour of the Peoples art collection is the result of the individual goodwill and contribution of thousands of artists from all over the world. Of no less importance is the auxiliary scientific collection made up of 174 437 items and built to back up the work of the museum specialists.

Nowadays the two complementing each other collections serve as an inexhaustible source of thematic, group, one-person and travelling exhibitions, publications, etc. From its opening until the end of 2018 the House of Humour and Satire has shown a total of 759 exhibitions and collections in its exhibition halls, in Bulgaria, in Europe, Africa, Northern America and the Middle East. The Humour of the Peoples art collection is best presented in the catalogue-albums of the International Biennial of Humour and Satire in the Arts; the CD-ROM Rp./A Pinch of Humour Daily-20-21st c.; the tourist guide and CD Gabrovo - a Humour Capital published in 2003; the album The Humour of the Peoples - 175 artworks from the museum collection published in 2016, as well as in the numerous colour brochures and museum catalogues.
Part of the core collection is the specialized book collection made up of 29 250 titles and 1000 volumes of periodicals in 35 languages.
